The summer sessions of the Almaden Cycle Touring Club Academy start July 29.

The Academy runs in 3 4-Saturday sessions to be taken in order, but after completing a 4 week session, following sessions can be picked up the next time the Academy is offered. The Academy prepares riders for club rides while teaching tire changing, minor maintenance, and rules of the road. Information can be found on the ACTC web site: www.actc.org/clubinfo/academy.html

Free Bicycle Street Skills Course in San Jose

The City of San Jose offers free courses for adult bicyclists who would like to improve their skills and confidence. Learn important traffic laws, as well as how to safely change lanes, ride on streets without bike lanes, take a bike on public transit, ride at night and perform basic bike repairs. Based on the League of American Bicyclist curriculum, this two day course focuses on adults. Taught by nationally certified instructors, the course is offered approximately every two months in San Jose. You may take either Day 1 only, which is an evening classroom session (Street Skills), or take both Day 1 and Day 2, which includes classroom and on-bike practice (Road 1).
