Short tour and press conference to kick off bike month and encourage
participation in Bike to Work Day.

Bicycle Ride to promote Bike to Work Day to Palo Alto CityWorks (at
Municipal Service Center) with City Council Members.
There will be two starting points in Palo Alto:
- Palo Alto Civic Center, 250 Hamilton Ave.
- East Meadow and Bryant.

Alternative Transportation assessment for local policymakers.
Start from Tamien southwest Park and Ride Lot, (Lelong and Alma), San Jose
A group will ride to City Hall with
- City Council Members Ken Yeager, David
D. Cortese and Chuck Reed,
- Congressman Mike Honda,
- Tom Wheatley, Assistant Chief of Police, San Jose,
- members of staff offices for Senators Byron Sher
and John Vasconcellos,
- members of staff offices for Assemblypersons Manny Diaz
and Rebecca Cohn,
- and a police escort.
The ride will point out
bicycle facilities that encourage cycling and increase safety and also
areas
where facilities could be improved.

Sunnyvale: Thursday, May 17, 2001, 7:30 AM Start
Meet at the Bike to Work Day energizer station at the Sunnyvale Caltrain
station and ride with a group of City Officials via Sunnyvale Avenue to
Sunnyvale City Hall. The ride is to promote bicycling as a viable commute
alternative.
Riders include:
- City Council Member Patricia Vorreiter
- Planning Commissioner Dave Simons
- Three Public Safety Officers
- some members of the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee
