Team Bike Challenge

Grab your friends, colleagues & neighbors and team up for the Team Bike Challenge. Every May, Team Bike Challenge participants score points for their team every day they choose their bicycle to commute to any location. Team members do not have to ride together and earn points by not only riding to work, but for errands, to school, to appointments or to any destination where they would usually use a car to get there. (Leisurely recreational rides do not count toward points.) The team with the most points at the end of the month wins a grand prize!

Here’s how it works:

Form a team of 2-5 people. Your team must have at least one Novice rider.
Sign up your team at 511.org and get a personalized team calendar to track your progress.
Ride your bike to work in May to earn points and win prizes!

Who’s on your team?

Team members earn different points depending on their level of riding:

Novice — A new or infrequent rider who uses his/her bike two times or less per month. (Each team must have at least one Novice rider)
5 points each day pedaled
Big Wheel — A manager, Director, CEO, journalist, or elected official. (Limit one Big Wheel per team)
4 points for each day pedaled
Weekend Warrior — A weekend rider who takes long leisure rides and/or who participates in organized rides or races, but doesn’t commute by bike.
3 points for each day pedaled
Lifestyle Rider — A seasoned and skilled rider who rides his or her bike frequently (two or more times a week) for transportation. The lifestyle rider is the example of one who truly believes that everyday is a Bike to Work Day. In fact, this person is so content on his or her two wheels that s/he just wants to see other folks out there enjoying the benefits of cycling! The Lifestyle rider is a motivator and an inspiration for his or her friends to join a team and pedal to win.
