Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties

The fourteenth annual Bike to Work Day on May 15th, 2008, is the premiere bike celebration in the Bay Area. Through your involvement, you will position your company as a community-minded business that is working to help reduce traffic congestion, enhance health and improve the environment while reaching a large and diverse audience.

The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition works to implement the Bike to Work Day in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, alongside other organizations including the Peninsula Congestion Relief Alliance, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Agency, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Bay Area Bicycle Coalition, 511.org, and various cities and businesses across the region.

Sponsorship Benefits in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties

  • Media outreach: The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, teaming up with civic and business leaders, achieved a very high level of media attention for the event in 2007, with coverage on major TV networks, radio, and print mediums leading up to and including the event. In 2008 we plan to step up our efforts, bringing more exposure both to the event and to your company.
  • Press conferences: Last year, we had an overwhelming media response at our press conference the morning of Bike to Work Day in San Jose. This year, Mayor Chuck Reed and Webcor CEO Andy Ball are already committed to participating—who will join us from your company?
  • Posters: More than 6,000 artistic event posters will be distributed throughout Silicon Valley and the Peninsula at bike shops, coffee shops, libraries, and businesses to advertise the event.
  • Reusable bags: More than 6,000 quality reusable bags are given away at Energizer Stations throughout the region and will continue to be carried long after the event comes to a close.
  • Website: Last year, our event website received over 50,000 hits, and we expect to step up our web presence this year. People from all over the region visit the site to learn about event details and Energizer Station locations.
  • Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) email bulletin and newsletter: These news vehicles reach thousands of people throughout the Peninsula and South Bay area.
  • Bike Away from Work Bash: Every year, Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition hosts a party the evening of Bike to Work Day to reward volunteers and promote community participation. Non-members receive entry for $25 plus a free Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition membership for a year and a chance to bid on great auction items.
