Uvas Road Closure for Bridge Replacement
The County of Santa Clara, Roads and Airports Department is working on a project to replace a bridge on Uvas Road, located 0.6 miles west of Watsonville Road, about 5 miles southwest of Morgan Hill. The bridge is too narrow and does not meet the current standards. Half of the new bridge is constructed and we plan to shift the vehicular traffic on to this new structure. Traffic signals will be installed to control the single direction at a time vehicular traffic movement. A temporary bicyclist/pedestrian bridge has been constructed to allow for safety crossing of the creek. The bicyclist/pedestrians are required to use this temporary bridge. The bicyclist will need to dismount and walk the bicycles when using this temporary bridge. The temporary bridge will become operational by the end of May 2008 until the new bridge is completed (tentatively) by June 2009.
