Caltrain Bicycle Master Plan

SVBC has sent a request to Caltrain asking for an extension of the public comment period for the Caltrain Bicycle Master Plan. The current schedule calls for the draft plan to be released on August 11th and for the public comment period to end on August 22nd. Given the level of interest in the plan, and the fact that many people are away in August, SVBC feels that there should be a full 30 day comment period.

SVBC Supports SB 28 (Simitian)

SVBC has sent a letter of support to Senator Joe Simitian endorsing SB 28, which will prohibit a driver from text messaging. As of July 1st, it is illegal to use a handheld phone while driving in California, but a loophole in the law allows for text messaging. SB 28 will help to close that loophole. SVBC thanks Senator Simitian for his continuing focus on road safety in California.
